The Errigo Clock

Now that Republican Assemblyman Joe Errigo has endorsed Democrat Andrew Cuomo for Governor, all that remains is to see when Errigo gets his cushy job as a payoff from a new Cuomo administration.

Nothing fancy, we're sure.   Just something to bump up that state pension and maybe provide Joey access, if he wants it, to the Animal House lifestyle of backbench assemblymen in Albany of a certain type.

We think they'll wait a decent interval, but not too long, so we peg it at Valentine's Day.

Does every man have his price?

No.   Just some.

Let the countdown begin!

Help me out here. It's not like the "Errigo seat" is going to go to the Democrats or that Assemblyman Errigo's endorsement is going to get Mr. Cuomo any substantial number of votes (assuming Mr. Cuomo needs additional votes). Porque?

What am I missing (part II)? I see that Assemblyman Errigo (in a prior career) was a Court Reporter for NYS OCA for over 30 years. My understanding is that those folks are paid quite well (certainly in the six figures after 30 years of service). The Assemblyman has earned a six figure income for 10 years in that Albany position. Assuming the Assemblyman is looking for a "pension spike job" how much will he really gain, assuming he takes a job with the new Cuomo Administration (assuming there is one)? Porque?

I am sorry to write this, but this article seems out of character for this site. I am not sure what the issue is....that Errigo is endorsing a Democrat? Is it possible that Errigo thinks that Cuomo can take on Silver and change things...and no other candidate can?
What is troubling to me is that this post seems very mean spirited rather than enlightening!

I don't get the "shock" from Allen and Anon. Errigo sold out his party and is in bed with the Democrats now. And people are going to comment on that. Why are you so surprised?

Let's consider the possibility that after watching the Republican Party disintegrate during the Pataki years, embarrass itself with the ideologically rudderless Joe Bruno and now Dean Skelos, and leave voters with a choice of Lazio (Pataki-Lite, liberal, pro-gay marriage, pro-gun control, in bed with labor unions) or Paladino ('nough said), maybe Joe Errigo has concluded what many voters already knew -- the GOP is basically a dead party and Cuomo, while a Democrat, is better than the alternatives.

No, no no. Errigo is getting a political job. Watch...

And then come back here and apologize for promoting the lie that he's not.

It's not ideology. Democrats are ruining this state. Why would you endorse someone who supports those policies.

5:36 sounds like a Dem party hack defending his/her bosses because they have to to keep their cushy government job.

Promoting Errigo for basically flipping parties is also part of the deal.

5:36 here -- look, if the GOP had a pulse statewide or Lazio were a serious candidate there wouldn't be a need for Paladino or a Tea Party (or Taxpayer Party as they're calling it). Errigo is saying what a lot of good Republicans are thinking -- why hasn't the GOP given us a viable candidate? Lazio apparently doesn't even take his own campaign seriously, which is giving rise to whether he was a D'Amato plant to buy some goodwill with Cuomo to produce more money for D'Amato's lobbying firm. Don't blame Errigo for the disintegration of the NY GOP. p.s. I'm not a Democrat, 9:55.

Lifelong Republican here. I don't disagree with Errigo. Lazio just doesn't have it.

Anyone can support whomever they want for elected office. My concern is that I hope Errigo doesn't take a job with the Democrats. It's political treason to exchange an endorsement for a job payoff.
