For a blog that rails against the "lies" told by the D&C (and I agree, they're a crap paper), it's funny that for national news your source here is The Daily Caller, which makes the D&C look like the WSJ. I have no brief for Menendez, but the prostitution accusation is based on one anonymous letter published in the Caller. Here's what a real newspaper, the Washington Post, reported today:
"A team of FBI agents has been conducting interviews in recent weeks in the Dominican Republic and the United States, looking into allegations that Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) patronized prostitutes in the Caribbean nation, but has found no evidence to support the claim, according to two people familiar with the investigation."
and
"The allegations in the letters included the names of a few women who allegedly had improper relations with Menendez and Melgen, including that of a Dominican teenager who told a local television station she had no involvement and had never left her village."
Another thing: the reason the Republican Party is essentially dead to Latinos, Asians and other recent immigrants isn't because the media was unkind to one of the few Latinos is a prominent member of your party. It's because of years of hateful rhetoric about "illegals" and dogged opposition to immmigration reform. Look at the exit polls - 27% of Latinos voted for Romney, while 40% voted for GWB in 2004. And for the first time in 2012, Latinos made up 10% of the electorate. Your party is losing the fastest-growing demographic in the US and all you can do is whine because your brown guy is getting some bad treatment while our brown guy isn't.
